Francs used to call the island “Isola di Spezie”, which means “the island of aromas” and was the reason why the island is named Spetses, according to tradition. The island is famous for offering rides in traditional horse-drawn carriages. Picturesque coachmen can take you to most parts of the town of Spetses, from early morning until late at night during the summer season.
